Amethyst Crown 1400’s
This is interesting because Amethyst is my birthstone:
“The February born shall find sincerity and peace of mind, freedom from passion and from care, if they, the amethyst will wear.”
Amethyst is associated - stability, peace, balance, courage, inner strength, sincerity and a calm disposition.

hinged bracelets or armlets

Gold, carnelian, and glass Dynasty 18, reign of Thutmose lll ca. 1479-1425 B.C. From the tomb of the three minor wives of Thutmose lll in the Wady Gabbanat el-Qurud, Thebes
This funerary equipment belonged to three foreign (Semitic) wives of Thutmose lll, Maruta, Manhata, and Manuwai. Maruta may, in fact, be the hieroglyphic version of the familiar Hebrew name Marta. The jewelry was discovered, together with vessels and other objects, in a rock-cut cave situated high up in the desert mountain cliffs of the Wady Gabbanat el-Qurud in western Thebes.
These hinged ornaments are made of burnished gold inlaid with carnelian and glass. Each is inscribed on the inner surface with cartouches and epithets of Thutmose lll. They were worn on the wrist or upper arm with the king’s name close to the woman’s skin.

What is it that separates the world’s royals from us mere mortals? Is it the money? The palaces? That whole divine right of kings thing? Nah, it’s the crowns and tiaras, obviously. Like this, the diamonds-and-silver tiara that Queen Elizabeth II got on her wedding day in 1947. Sure beats another toaster, eh?

“I beg you will limit yourself to this ornament, even of which your charms have no need. This present should please you the more that it has not increased my expenditure since it is composed of diamonds I possessed when I was a dauphin.”
Louis XVI to Marie Antoinette. In effort to curb her taste in wearing such tall plumes in her hair he offered her a diamond aigrette to wear instead.

This is the last English crown I will be posting until Friday in which I will spam you all within an inch of your lives with my Royal Post.
I’ve been planning it for a while and it’s promising to be beautiful.
Made for Florence, the wife of the second Baron Poltimore, treasurer to Queen Victoria’s household 1872-1874. Later owned by HRH Princess Margaret.

Tengo una fascinación por las tiaras. Son tan imposibles de obtener, por éso me fascinan.
